Thanks for stopping by.
As my profile blurb says, I’m a Brisbane based freelance writer and blogger pursuing my passion for writing. I blog about random topics on JenniferJohnstonWrites but this blog Travel Bug Within is about one of my serious passions: TRAVEL. Travellers share something in common – whether it’s a desire to meet people, experience new places and cultures, or re-visit somewhere where there was an affinity. I’m one of countless millions travelling for various reasons: fun; adventure; curiosity and business. But no matter where I go – travel for me is special.
So why the name?
Once bitten by the travel bug, it’s never left me and I happily sustain my travel bug with regular doses of travel. It may not always be to faraway places. Living in south-east Queensland (Australia), provides some incredible locations to explore right on my doorstep. Destinations to spend either a day, a few nights or weeks.
Travel inspires me and the travel bug inside wishes I could escape more often. However, at the moment I cannot uproot and travel endlessly. Somewhere in the future, my gipsy soul will wander for longer (sabbaticals in foreign places) but right now I’m mum to three teenage lads so I stay in one place (mostly.) A few trips each year satiate the bug! My lads sometimes travel with me, helping me with writing inspiration, content (and occasional grief!)
Why follow me?
Travel Bug Within is more than a gathering of travel stories. My wish is to inspire you to explore more of our amazing world. Or if nothing else, my stories give you my take on a certain place and my experiences.
I’m on the other side of 50 now – I admit I don’t feel it but my lads remind me I am “old” – so you won’t find the backpacking stories here. (Unless I’m recounting stories from my backpacking days a few decades ago now!)
What you will find are stories as a solo traveller; a single mum travelling with her kids or travelling with friends, what happened along the way and what may make things easier for you, should you decide to travel to the same destination. My stories are honest insights that will hopefully keep you reading to the end and maybe entice you to sign up to read more.
And please take a moment to comment, I try to read them and reply.
